Shishio

Born on a world called Earth, Shishio Makoto was killed and given another chance in the world of Aerynath. On this world called Earth, Shishio was originally from a village called Choushuu. During his teen years, he trained as an assassin for the government and was quite proficient; second only to a man named Kenshin Himura. Both were members of the Isshin Shishi, a highly elite group of assassins trained by the government itself. After the Bakumatsu war, Kenshin vanished, realizing that the government he fought for was no better than the last, Shishio was given Kenshin's title of Hitokiri Battousai (Master Assassin Manslayer). Shishio was a much different man than Kenshin, and used power and hatred to crush his opponents, and gained much valuable information from the rising government. Thought to "know to much" the Isshin Shishi decided it would be best to get rid of Shishio fearing his knowledge would make him dangerous to even them. Ambushed in his sleep by his fellow members, he was shot in the head, and burned alive, being too strong for even this kind of punishment, he survived. After enduring this horrible fate, all of his sweat glands were burned away, which made his body temperature abnormally high, and his body had to be constantly wrapped in bandages making him look like some kind of living mummy. 10 years later, the Meiji government had quickly evolved, Shishio reappeared and began his plot to destroy the government and extract his revenge. During this period, Shishio formed a small group of followers called the Juupon Gatana (Ten Swords), all possessing worldly knowledge that complimented each others' perfectly, one of the members being a woman named Yumi Komagata. He fell in love with her, and she was always by his side. The Juupon Gatana set up their headquarters in a town called Kyoto. He planned on taking over the government on the theory that "The strong shall live, and the weak shall die" and wanted to create a new government that would be ruled by those strong enough to conquer all other nations. Somehow though, Kenshin Himura, the original Battousai heard of the plot and set off to stop Shishio. Setting up many trials for Kenshin and his small band of followers, Shishio hoped to exterminate Kenshin, which was just as important as taking over the government itself. Kenshin finally met with Shishio, and to his surprise, Kenshin no longer desired to kill anyone, for any reason, as an atonement to being the Battousai for so long. Shishio and Kenshin then had an epic battle, but Kenshin proved to be too powerful, even while using a reverse-blade sword. During the battle, while Shishio was down, Yumi intervened and begged Kenshin to stop, fearing her lover, Shishio would die because having had his sweat glands fused by fire, he lost his ability to sweat, leaving him able to fight for only 15 minutes before his body temperature would rise to high for him to continue to live. In a vain effort to defeat Kenshin, Shishio stabbed Kenshin, but not without going through Yumi first. The attack wasn't enough to kill Kenshin, and Shishio continued to fight. the battle lasted only 15 minutes, in which Shishio's body gave out, and died. Upon entering the realm of Hell, Shishio was given the cruel option of continuing to burn, or atone his evil deeds in another world called Aerynath. Not wanting to go through eternal torture of even more fire, he chose the atonement...
