And the Story of Clan Walker... |
| As a roleplaying guild, it's only to be expected that Clan Walker has quite a history by now, and that each character involved has a bit of a backstory, too! Though not ALL of those stories are here on display, we still have a wealth of knowledge available to the average newcomer interested in following our storyline! We've spanned many games and we've tried to keep our timeline continuous, so read below and learn the basics about Clan Walker, how it began, where it's headed, and the wonderful people we play with. |

The Basics: Clan Walker was started by Ian Walker, creator of the character Lord Michlo, in the game of Shadowbane; a medieval style fantasy full of mighty warriors, powerful mages and all kinds of interesting folk. Our guild is neutral and, as from then till now, stood for Honour & Enlightenment. We built a grand city that had shops, trainers, and all the comforts of home; routinely protecting it from random pk'rs and on one occasion, a bane. Everyone was happy and our guild grew to have over 80 members. Unfortunately, the powers that be at UBI decided to wipe the server that we were on. What this meant was that we were to lose everything but what we could carry. At the time Lord Michlo was asked by all to please continue the tradition and build once again on a new server, as none of us wanted to leave the realm. He graciously consented and we started anew. Once again we had our city mostly through the superhuman efforts of our Lord Michlo, and it grew to be even bigger and grander than before. Much to our disbelief, In less than 3 months, we were notified that the server we picked would be wiped yet again. Disheartened, most felt that it was just too much hard work to do it all over again, with no guarantees that we wouldn't get wiped a third time. As we wanted to stay together, we put a lot of time and effort into researching and finding a new game for us to be on. Everyone agreed to a brand new MMORPG that was about to be released, called Horizons. Those that could not migrate with us, stayed on Shadowbane to form a branch of Clan Walker on another server. This branch is still alive and well, growing daily, and led by our hardworking Lord Tolbin. So it was with many high hopes that we moved to Horizons, as it promised to be quite an exceptional adventure for all. Unfortunately, Horizons never lived up to it's promises or potential. The game was full of bugs and technical problems, the communication with Artifact was for all purposes nonexistent. Every patch only seemed to make it worst. Finally, after 6 months, none of us could bear it anymore. And Lord Michlo made the decision to offer us an opportunity to try yet another realm... Star War Galaxies. He personally had tried it out on a trial, and found to his surprise that it was much better than he expected. Whereas at first some were hesitant to move into a futuristic setting, we all trusted his judgement. We tried out the trial period for ourselves and saw that it surely did have a rich world of possibilities; one that we can thrive in and enjoy. On SWG, we built a city close to Coronet in Corellia (on the Kettemoor server). Everyone enjoyed the game tremendously and decided to stay for quite some time, pursuing various goals and interests. It was great to be together again, and as our ambitions grew, we set up another branch of CW on World of Warcraft, which was released some time later. We continue to grow across all three realms and are having lots of fun! The Storyline: Initially, as we 'grew up' on Shadowbane, we really didn't think to expand our story beyond the events in that realm. 'Lord Michlo' set the tone with a fabulous backstory you'll read about in the sections below, but when our shard was wiped and we were forced to start over on both new shards AND games, Ian devised a way to keep the story going. It might be a convieniant plot device, but it certainly is a helpful one! In brief? An evil, dark magic was cursed upon our guild and its inhabitants, hurtling us from realm to realm in an effort to destroy everything we've worked to build! Some of the original members of Clan Walker remained on shadowbane, some ended up in Azeroth, and so on and so forth. Each would stand again, and move on! In the present, we strive to keep in contact and expand a guild that refuses to shatter. Long live Clan Walker, now and forever!
